IIS Installation on Windows Server 2008 R2

Note: If the AIC is being installed on the same server as StealthAUDIT, then the minimum server requirement is Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1, which supports .NET Framework 4.6.1.

The following components need to be installed. Several components have IIS required dependencies.

→  Roles

Application Server

Web Server (IIS)

→  Application Server > Role Services

Web Server (IIS) Support

→  Web Server Role (IIS) > Role Services

Management Tools > IIS 6 Management Compatibility

Note: If IIS is already installed, confirm the Necessary IIS Components have been installed with the checklist in the Windows Server 2008 R2 IIS Necessary IIS Components List section.

Follow the steps to install the necessary IIS components.

Step 1 – Click Start, hover over Administrative Tools, and select Server Manager from the pop-up menu. The Server Manager Window opens.

Step 2 – Open the Add Role Wizard with one of the following methods:

→  On the Server Manager view, scroll down to “Roles Summary” and select Add Roles.

→  Select Roles from the index column and click Add Roles in the Roles view.

Step 3 – On the Server Roles page, check the Application Server and the Web Server (IIS) roles.

The Application Server role has required features. When the pop-up appears click Add Required Features. Ensure the Web Server (IIS) option is still checked. Then click Next twice to navigate to the Role Services page under Application Server.

Step 4 – Select Web Server (IIS) Support, and a wizard pop-up window displays.

The Web Server (IIS) Support role service has required role services. When the pop-up appears click Add Required Role Services. Ensure the .NET Framework 3.5.1 and HTTP Activation options are still checked. Then click Next twice to navigate to the Role Services page under Web Server (IIS).

Step 5 – In addition to the default selections provided, scroll down to Management Tools and select the IIS 6 Management Compatibility option. This automatically selects the IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility, IIS 6 WMI Compatibility, IIS 6 Scripting Tools, and IIS 6 Management Console role services. Then click Next.

Step 6 – Click Install. The Add Roles Wizard will install the selected services and features.

Step 7 – On the Results page, confirm that the installation was successful and click Close. The Add Roles Wizard closes.

Step 8 – Install .NET Framework 4.6.1.

The necessary IIS components for both IIS hosted StealthAUDIT Report Index and the Access Information Center have been installed.
